Adedamola Adeniyi An interesting and compelling dive into the solo work of James Ferrell (Big Math, Red Era, etc.) who has managed to bring together the stylings of metalcore, progressive metal and math rock into this release in a collection of songs near a decade-long in the making. I think there's a lot to appreciate here so if you're in the mood for genre-hopping a bit through the course of the album, I think you'll really like the variety that's jam-packed into this LP. Favorite track: Loop.

Nick Tuttle Love the melodic yet brutal guitars, perfectly matched percussion, and the vocals are a breathe of fresh air -especially in this genre <3

We are contortionists Twisting ourselves into novel contours until we're shapeless mere puppets for the... Dog eat dog society Preying savagely on the weak Completely outsmarted by the cold and bitter hearted Cold hard cash for coldhearted men We are contortionists Twisting ourselves into novel contours until we're shapeless mere puppets for the orchestrators of war Is survival of the fittest A sport of fitness, or how you fit in? Social order, higher power The powers that be, favor valor Sent away to lands uncharted by the cold and bitter hearted Cold hard cash for coldhearted men We are contortionists Twisting ourselves into novel contours until we're shapeless mere puppets for the orchestrators of war

In search of quietude where the jagged earth extrudes Lofty bends and ancient trees dancing gently in the breeze Creatures alive with routine Insects are chittering A spring flows into a creek Smallest waterfall I've seen Inhale the mountain air as the wind blows through my hair A pathway made of stones Let’s see where this goes Though men have tried to tame Mother nature long reclaimed this place Running short on day Bones and muscles ache Unprepared but resolute Find the route amidst the roots The animals are growing still Warm air gives way to chill A crash resounds ahead and echoes with dread Inhale the mountain air as the wind blows through my hair A pathway made of stones Let’s see where this goes Unprepared out of time The thunderstorm has arrived Have to pick up the pace Must find somewhere that's safe Have to pick up the pace Won't be found in this place

Snakeholder 03:26
Plan together Ideation, execution Heart and soul Changed my mind, throw it all away There will be no discussion Unwilling to hear reason Now you'll be excused I have more important things to do Step away try again the next day Unforeseen complications arise Perhaps you will understand this time? There will be no discussion Unwilling to hear reason Now you'll be excused I have more important things to do Given space and time Were you irrational, or was I? It's irrelevant This transaction has come to an end
4.
Revived 03:54
Locked deep within for so long that all the cells have been replaced Buried in the darkness, deserted with no compass Searching deep within Shine the light and look for reflection Hello neglected one, now your time has come Let's begin a new existence The abandoned and decayed, reassembled and remade Combing through what has survived Iteration until they're all revived Carving away excess and superfluity Don't cut into bone Leave the core alone Take what was, and make it real Uncover and reveal your voice the sound of being resounds once again Liberation from obscurity Now go, live free The abandoned and decayed, reassembled and remade Combing through what has survived Iteration until they're all revived

We're far from home and everything here feels so different and strange But over time you'll come to accept that it's not so bad this way Explore and embrace no better sustenance for curiosity The world is immense and intricate real beauty is uncovered in the gray We will walk along our own way reject the path of conformity We won't place ourselves into a box resist the scourge of normalcy "You're weird", she would say It was an effortless and steady refrain Find balance between our duty to the ones we love and ourselves Every day is a choice between maintaining what you are, or remaking yourself We will walk along our own way reject the path of conformity We won't place ourselves into a box resist the scourge of normalcy Life is fleeting spend it wisely Our time is too short for normalcy We're far from home and everything here feels so different and strange but it's not so bad this way

Righteous 05:28
It starts out when they're young and receptive to misguided tongues Gotta teach them that the stakes are high How will you spend your afterlife? The self-sustaining cycle of ignorance and lies Your pastors are wolves in sheep's attire Let's hope that you were righteous Leave your earnings in the bowl This is merely heaven's toll So the parish and its order can continue to prosper The self-sustaining cycle of ignorance and lies Your pastors are wolves in sheep's attire Once your organs no longer function A magical force will then draw you forth Where you will be judged No more flesh and blood Now that it's come to this Let's hope that you were righteous
7.
The Messiah 04:13
Our new messiah is here Spreading love and fear With adoration and awe we praise our shiny golden god We bow down to the messiah Lunacy expedition Assemble witnesses of the grand indoctrination His voice is vulgar and bold Deafening all who behold Fill the gaps left by | incoherent thoughts | and amorphous words Draw the silhouette | of our enemy | though the lines are blurred We bow down to the messiah Lunacy expedition Assemble witnesses of the grand indoctrination They don't look like us They don't speak like us They're not like us So keep them away from us This is a call to arms with intent to harm Looping signal of madness rising to a fever pitch
8.
Obsidian 04:04
I can feel the stares, the vacant eyes such apathy, no room for compromise Now all that we’ve fought for is lost Burnt to cinders it’s all but gone our principles, cast aside a thousand times Can't you hear the cries Of the broken human race They wade into the tide While we avert our gaze Blindsided by this torrent of obsidian and blue React in ignorance as they're destined to We journey through these waves of chaos But we have lost our way in the empty space within this inconsistency Blue is all they see "I can't breathe," he said, a fading plea such disregard and animosity Untouchable, no recourse and no remorse Can't you hear the cries Of the broken human race They wade into the tide While we avert our gaze We look away

As the mist evaporates Awakened, but in a haze Aimlessly wandering A distant figure, observing Pale faces all around me Sheep heads on human bodies Somber and mesmerized, a shepherd's call, and we follow blindly Adrift and unaware We've fallen off the trail A shrouded atmosphere - Where do we go from here? Walk in line among the zealous and the blind Leave this place behind search for understanding Moon and stars remain still, in a space that suffocates If my memories form this landscape, what monsters will my fear create? Adrift and unaware We've fallen off the trail A shrouded atmosphere - Where do we go from here? The ground beneath is shaking violently as daylight pierces through the seams Take a breath of the open air Let's escape now that we are aware

Loop 04:06
Captured in a loop that never seems to end Despite so many reasons we should feel content Impossible to ever fully scratch the itch On the horizon, midnight's slowly setting in Back to the start One more day, one more wall As we steadily approach the fall The scenery changes As we remain motionless Will we reach serenity if we push on? Somewhere in between the midnight and the dawn Impossible to ever fully scratch the itch On the horizon, midnight's slowly setting in One more day, one more wall As we steadily approach the fall The scenery changes As we remain motionless Back to the start of the line again For this rollercoaster ride we're on Though the summit is evident Round and round we go again Back to the start One more day, one more wall As we steadily approach the fall The scenery changes As we remain motionless Back to the start of the line again For this rollercoaster ride we're on Though the summit is evident Round and round we go again

The truth is what you hear A sculpture of majestic fiction (There's no need to question) Endless unique visions Truncated into single digits (Look how neatly they fit into categories) I'll see what I want to see Believe in anything just as long as it is comforting to me An idea alone, Incapable of causing harm (At least not to me, no) It's up to every person Individuals will decide (Whether lies are valid) The things that you have seen, The voices from those unlike you, they don't matter (The only valid views are the ones I hold) I'll see what I want to see Believe in anything just as long as it is comforting to me (comforting to me) Resolute beliefs I will never be persuaded differently Evidence never really mattered much to me It's checkmate for you In my clear, unbiased, candid view, I've determined that you have a faulty attitude Just admit defeat In this battle of attrition and ideals I have triumphed fully with my strawman infantry Yeah this is the end Sayonara (various absurd conspiracy theories, which people somehow believe) I'll see what I want to see Believe in anything just as long as it is comforting to me (comforting to me) Resolute beliefs I will never be persuaded differently Evidence never really mattered much to me

One last check of the protocols All systems are operational Engaging vital functions Releasing the locking mechanisms Now we're finally here In the moment of the final operation Enter the stratosphere Feel the gravity of the situation Strap in for reentry Brace for the gravitational pull Offset terrestrial atmosphere Maintain the angle of descent (5, 4, 3, 2,) Now we're finally here In the moment of the final operation Enter the stratosphere Feel the gravity of the situation The function will not execute A sudden drop in altitude The pilot can't manipulate and we're swept away

ABOUT DECAYED | REMADE

This album is the culmination of everything I know so far about songwriting and production, and I think it's the best thing I've done up to this point. I hope you’ll enjoy it too.
