about

This is possibly my favorite piece of music I've ever written so far. It was begging to be at the end of the album, but I think it will probably always be a live show opener.

Lyrically this is a fun song about about landing a space ship back on Earth. On a deeper level it's about living in the moment and enjoying the good times while they last, but honestly it's meant to be more exciting than deep.

The verse drum beat — and especially the fill in the middle of the second verse — is a direct reference to "Vanishing" by A Perfect Circle. Meanwhile, I feel like I finally successfully achieved Cave In vibes with the lead guitars and vocals in the verses.

The outro riff was originally meant to be the verse riff but it I wanted more dynamic contrast between the verses and choruses. Instead, there is a heavily effected, swirling version of the outro riff in the background of the verses.

The phrase that ends the song builds on the phrase that precedes each chorus. It goes out with a bang!

lyrics

One last check of the protocols
All systems are operational
Engaging vital functions
Releasing the locking mechanisms

Now we're finally here
In the moment of the final operation
Enter the stratosphere
Feel the gravity of the situation

Strap in for reentry
Brace for the gravitational pull
Offset terrestrial atmosphere
Maintain the angle of descent

(5, 4, 3, 2,)

Now we're finally here
In the moment of the final operation
Enter the stratosphere
Feel the gravity of the situation

The function will not execute
A sudden drop in altitude
The pilot can't manipulate
and we're swept away
